Marijuana and Bio Deisel

So.....sunday the 30th of September. Galen and I are driving up the Highway 9 tward the redwoods.....and I am like...smells like pot.....and McDonalds. Galen says "ahh nothing like Marijuana and BioDeisel." I Laughed.....but then I got to thinking.....man, this must be a common smell in like 3 cities.......Santa Cruz, Portland, and Boulder. The funny thing is, that the Bio Deisel smell was coming off a HUMMER. That's right, a Freeking Hummer.....how obnoxious is THAT!? What kind of Ecofriendly, "Legalize-it," BioDeisel Burning HIPPIE would buy a HUMMER....not an H2. Not an H3...A full blown, eye-sore of a HUMMER on a small 2 lane country road. I supose if you are going to drive a big sensless gass guzzeling toy, then well, make it eco friendly. I guess I am just amazed.... Ahh well it takes all kinds.

At least they were enjoying they were enjoying the nature.....from inside their abomination, waste-of-resources, bright white, my-genitals-are-too-shriveled-up P.O.S. Ok, okay, i am done. no really I'll get off the soap box now.

SO the Tree above (Note tree has a capital "T") is one of my favories in Henry Cowles Redwood forest. It stands over 400 feet tall....and is probably older than the USA. Ahhh well. I did learn that the redwood trees now only grow in a special area along the coast of Central Northern CA and up just into Southern OR coastal range......that's it. Save one small area in east asia. I had no clue I was so blessed to have seen them most every week of my life growing up. Simple pleasures.

The Trellis Bridge, Santa Cruz. Parts of the Train Bridge scene from "The Lost Boys" was filmed on this bridge. Infact "Santa Carla" is/was Santa Cruz, for those who didn't know that. The "Lost Boys" was mostly filmed here in Santa Cruz.

So this weekend was spent playing "Tour Director" my friend Galen who was down in SC for the weekend. We had (or at least I had) a great time. Friday was spent at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Looking at Sharks, Sunfish, Great Red Pacific Octopus, and other amazing marine life. I love that aquarium.

My Moms favorite room, the Kelp Forest. It is basicly what the Monterey Bay looks like. Did you know that Great Sea Kelp can grow aprox 10 inches per day! No wonder so much of it washes ashore and makes for a stinky beach. The stuff can really tie you up too when you are swimming and get tumbled by a wave. it's slimy and has little bulbs of air built into the leaves to help it float, which can be popped i might add. I like to do that a lot.

I'm on the rigth side of the photo....this is ONE of the jellie exhibets. I like it a lot. They have some really nice jelly displays. The Aquarium too up most of the day on friday. and friday night was a hang in the house night if I remember right.

Saturday we went on a tour of Santa Cruz County kinda drive, stopping at the Capitola Esplanade for some Late and live music that was playing on the Capitola Warf. Also, I should mention that we were in the land of the Saltwater taffy makers...holymole that makes me happy. Anyone who has spent more than 12 hours with me knows that I have a sweet tooth to rival any 8 year old. Fortunatly I am an adult and can eat candy when ever I freekin' want to. HA! Take THAT KIDS! I have PIE for breakfast with ICECREAM if I like! Infact I am a strong supporter of the idea that you should eat desert for breakfast so that you have all day to use up and benifit from the sugar!

Sunday we went to henry cowles forest as aforementioned in the HUMMER rant. and hiked about a bit. Also tryed to get sushi.......not a good idea on a sunday night I must say as most all of the sushi places were closed and the only one open (I won't mention an name......*cough* MoBo) was shite. Though they did have a good seaweed salad. As well as some fairly good Sake. Unfiltered, cold.

Monday was a walk for breakfast at Gilda's on the Santa Cruz Warf. Where we spotted a coupel of dolphins hunting for fishies. along with the usual seals and some otter. Then a look about for some roller skates. As some of you may or may not be aware of I have been on the look out for roller skates. I feel that I should own a pair. and that I should move about on them around town.....Seems like a good idea. But would you imagine, it is kinda hard to get roller skates at a store now. and I dont know what kind and size I would like so I cant order them on line. Grrrrr. Oh well, the saga continues.
