All about meg....and that's a good thing!

So as I mentioned sevreal times before in this blogg. I am here in Santa Cruz for Meg. I've known her all my life....we never met, she just always was. She was 6 months old when I was born. And we have known eachother ever since. I love her. And as luck would have it. It was her birthday last week! So for the first time in 10 years I got to have a birthday with her. We had a family party on Tuesday, which was fun, sushi, at Sushi Totoro.....tasty! And then Thursday was her bridal shower. From which the above photo was taken. She and I both had miss matched tights.....freeking love these things. Then saturday the 20th was her appointment with the dress fitter and a hair apointment for the two of us.......and her suprise party.

The hair appt was a blast, we were there for about 3 hours, meg gettin tinted and me getting roots done. Her hair stylis is her aunt too! SO that made it loads of fun. After the hiar appt I had to try to get Meg to 99 Bottles where everyone was meeting to suprise her. and let me just say that getting meg convinced that going cross town in traffic and having a zoo of a time finding parking was no small feet! Especially since I couldnt find a good reason that we shouldn't just go down the rd to the mexican restaraunt and get margaritas like she wanted to. But it all worked out in the end and I got her there. Then everyone stole her sunglasses and posed for me. They looked belivable on almost everyone. HA

Then we all split and regrouped at meggs house where we had an awesome rum cake from the Buttery Bakery (How can a bakery that is called "The Buttery" be bad!?) and put a dino on it....then proceeded to play Wii Karioke and Mario Party until about 3 am. .....ha! It was a sucessfull weekend I think. I had a great time.

Nothing much has heppened this week though, just working and climbing. Though I did have someone teach me the basics of Crack climbing at Pac.Edge last night and man that stuff is fun! But I think that I am going to have a practice a lot before it dosen't hurt too much....i feel like a wuss!

Tune in Next Week for PUMPKIN CARVING!!

Two week Count Down....

(Meg gave me this rockin' shirt, and it is my new favorite. I like it because it is always true. It makes me smile and it makes me laugh.)

So the last several weeks have gone by more or less, uneventfully. I have been working on a couple of new Medical books and an illustration for the American Journal of Nursing. I moved out of the animal house and back into the Semas house. All is Peacefull and quiet with the world again. I have been spending time helping my reason for being here (meg) get through her finnal weeks until her wedding and also playing her Wii......umm.....I hate to say it, but damn they are fun.

I have been spending time downtown on Pacific Ave. Remembering why I like/hate the darn street. It is just full on potheads, transplants, homeless, panhandelers, annoying highschool kids trying to be cool. But then there are the performing arts people that are kinda fun. And, well, occasionally the street musicians are alright. I use to spend a lot of hours here drinking coffee and just hanging out with people.
(Below my friend danny: laughing at something that he said, typical danny. Cracks himself up. And no he's not drinking piss, even if that is what it looks like, its Yurbamatte....I THINK I spelled that right.)

I think it has been about 2 weeks since I updated perhaps more. Not sure. But the below photo is from the last weekend I spent at the Renn. Fair. It was about 40 outside, kinda nice. about 8am. and I was up and about while everyone was like "Oh god it is super freezing outside...is there frost on the ground? I need my gloves!!" So I took it upon myself to harrass meg in her tent and tell them that they were all wusses and that they should come out of the tent and it was a beautiful day!! (and yes joe, if you are reading this that IS a cup on my hip, but serious, it is a great way to carry you mug around and not lose it! Go ahead, make fun. ;p)

Noche de Ninas

So Tuesday night, October 2nd. Seriously dosen't get much more girlie than this. Meg, myself, Nikki, and Ryh, we all had a "Girls Night" and made an appt at The Perfumers Apprentice, in down town Santa Cruz
http://www.perfumersapprentice.com/
I brought red wine and some cucumber finger sandwiches, hummus and bread. There was tea drinking and cookies. Oh man it was a riot. We had an appt for 6:30pm and we all walked out of there about 9:30pm. Serious stupid fun. You make perfume using essential smells (With help) and in the end you have something that you designed. It's a lot of fun, and it is strange how some peoples personalitys come out in the smell that they make. A good time was had by all four of us. and I think we'll do it again some time.

Yesterday I went for a short bike to capitola and then got a membership to Pacific Edge, climbing gym, climbed and came home.
Today: Biked Wilder Ranch....fun fun.
PS have been atticted to a Video game called "FABLE"

Marijuana and Bio Deisel

So.....sunday the 30th of September. Galen and I are driving up the Highway 9 tward the redwoods.....and I am like...smells like pot.....and McDonalds. Galen says "ahh nothing like Marijuana and BioDeisel." I Laughed.....but then I got to thinking.....man, this must be a common smell in like 3 cities.......Santa Cruz, Portland, and Boulder. The funny thing is, that the Bio Deisel smell was coming off a HUMMER. That's right, a Freeking Hummer.....how obnoxious is THAT!? What kind of Ecofriendly, "Legalize-it," BioDeisel Burning HIPPIE would buy a HUMMER....not an H2. Not an H3...A full blown, eye-sore of a HUMMER on a small 2 lane country road. I supose if you are going to drive a big sensless gass guzzeling toy, then well, make it eco friendly. I guess I am just amazed.... Ahh well it takes all kinds.

At least they were enjoying they were enjoying the nature.....from inside their abomination, waste-of-resources, bright white, my-genitals-are-too-shriveled-up P.O.S. Ok, okay, i am done. no really I'll get off the soap box now.

SO the Tree above (Note tree has a capital "T") is one of my favories in Henry Cowles Redwood forest. It stands over 400 feet tall....and is probably older than the USA. Ahhh well. I did learn that the redwood trees now only grow in a special area along the coast of Central Northern CA and up just into Southern OR coastal range......that's it. Save one small area in east asia. I had no clue I was so blessed to have seen them most every week of my life growing up. Simple pleasures.

The Trellis Bridge, Santa Cruz. Parts of the Train Bridge scene from "The Lost Boys" was filmed on this bridge. Infact "Santa Carla" is/was Santa Cruz, for those who didn't know that. The "Lost Boys" was mostly filmed here in Santa Cruz.

So this weekend was spent playing "Tour Director" my friend Galen who was down in SC for the weekend. We had (or at least I had) a great time. Friday was spent at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Looking at Sharks, Sunfish, Great Red Pacific Octopus, and other amazing marine life. I love that aquarium.

My Moms favorite room, the Kelp Forest. It is basicly what the Monterey Bay looks like. Did you know that Great Sea Kelp can grow aprox 10 inches per day! No wonder so much of it washes ashore and makes for a stinky beach. The stuff can really tie you up too when you are swimming and get tumbled by a wave. it's slimy and has little bulbs of air built into the leaves to help it float, which can be popped i might add. I like to do that a lot.

I'm on the rigth side of the photo....this is ONE of the jellie exhibets. I like it a lot. They have some really nice jelly displays. The Aquarium too up most of the day on friday. and friday night was a hang in the house night if I remember right.

Saturday we went on a tour of Santa Cruz County kinda drive, stopping at the Capitola Esplanade for some Late and live music that was playing on the Capitola Warf. Also, I should mention that we were in the land of the Saltwater taffy makers...holymole that makes me happy. Anyone who has spent more than 12 hours with me knows that I have a sweet tooth to rival any 8 year old. Fortunatly I am an adult and can eat candy when ever I freekin' want to. HA! Take THAT KIDS! I have PIE for breakfast with ICECREAM if I like! Infact I am a strong supporter of the idea that you should eat desert for breakfast so that you have all day to use up and benifit from the sugar!

Sunday we went to henry cowles forest as aforementioned in the HUMMER rant. and hiked about a bit. Also tryed to get sushi.......not a good idea on a sunday night I must say as most all of the sushi places were closed and the only one open (I won't mention an name......*cough* MoBo) was shite. Though they did have a good seaweed salad. As well as some fairly good Sake. Unfiltered, cold.

Monday was a walk for breakfast at Gilda's on the Santa Cruz Warf. Where we spotted a coupel of dolphins hunting for fishies. along with the usual seals and some otter. Then a look about for some roller skates. As some of you may or may not be aware of I have been on the look out for roller skates. I feel that I should own a pair. and that I should move about on them around town.....Seems like a good idea. But would you imagine, it is kinda hard to get roller skates at a store now. and I dont know what kind and size I would like so I cant order them on line. Grrrrr. Oh well, the saga continues.
